Robert Duell - Fire&EMS Coordinator/Director of Fire and Emergency Management-Appointed 2003
County Car 1261, Robert "Bob" Duell has dedicated over 33 years to the local fire service, 20 years as a career firefighter for the City of Cortland in which he served as a Fire Captain/Municipal Training Officer for 10 years. Prior to his appointment to the City of Cortland Fire Department, Coordinator Duell served 15 years in law enforcement.
Brenda S. DeRusso- Assistant Director of Fire and Emergency Management
County Car 1267, Brenda (aka Cortland County's "Disaster Lady") DeRusso was appointed in 1986. Brenda serves as the liaison between Cortland County and the offices of NYS SEMO and FEMA writes/reviews/revises the (CEMP) for Cortland County; manage and maintain all department books and records for both fire & emergency management; administer and manage scope of work/quarterly and annual financial records for several grants this office is simultaneously administering; participate in National Weather Service conferences and quarterly public awareness campaigns; media spokesperson for emergency management issues of the department; serve as the Community Emergency Coordinator of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).

This room has
been dedicated in honor of Deputy Fire and Emergency Director Brenda S.
DeRusso for her enduring support in making the classroom a reality
through her amazing and creative ability to provide funding. Brenda has
made it her calling for over twenty years to make sure all emergency
responders, agencies and citizens of Cortland County are prepared to
handle major incidents and disasters and ensure we recover financially
from them. For that reason this room is dedicated in her honor as our
way of saying "thank you".
