Operator - Emergency Vehicle Operation (ESIP
delivery)
Provides vehicle operators with a better understanding of the
seriousness of emergency vehicle operation. Based on objectives from
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1002 Fire Apparatus
Driver/Operator, Chapter 2, this course stimulates the thought processes
to make students aware of the potential for tragedy and financial loss
and of the legal and moral responsibilities encountered when operating
an emergency vehicle.
Accidents from apparatus returning from or responding to calls continues to be the second leading cause of fire fighter fatalities in the US. This driver education course covers the skills and knowledge required to safely operate emergency vehicles .It is offered to better prepare drivers to cope with the extra demands placed upon them in operating in emergency operations. This courses meets the NYS OFPC requirement for EVOC for the state pump operators and ladder operators courses. This class will have an extra emphasis on preparing students to take their NYS CDL permit exam.
A valid NYS drivers license is required to take the course.
